  • Celebrating Mustard Season in Napa
    Napa Mustard field

The mustard season in the Napa Valley is a beautiful time of year when wild mustard carpets vineyards with brilliant hues of green and gold. From early February through March, the Napa Valley Mustard Festival celebrates this time of year, bringing food, wine, art, entertainment and cultural activities across the vineyard region.

Several CABBI-certified Inns are currently offering special deals:

The beautiful Bel Abri, a French Country style inn, sits just off Route 29 in the town of Napa. Stay now until February 29 and receive complimentary wine and cheese each evening, full breakfast delivered to your room and wine tasting at five wineries for just $119 per night.

At The Hennessey House, save $68 to $227 over peak season prices! The Winter Package features a two-night stay, full-day wine tour, and Champagne greeting with two keepsake Hennessey House flutes and white chocolate champagne truffles. Strawberry Croissant French Toast
    Vine Hill

Nestled between vineyards and apple orchards in the rural Sebastopol, you'll find the award-winning Vine Hill Inn.

The remodeled 1987 Victorian farmhouse features beautiful views and sumptuous breakfasts. Their decadent French toast dish makes for a special Sunday brunch -- or try it yourself during the inn's Valentine's Day special (see sidebar).

    Ingredients:

    • 8 croissants, halved lengthwise
    • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
    • 2 cups sliced strawberries, plus extra for garnish
    • 3 large eggs
    • 1 cup milk
    • 1 tsp cinnamon
    • ½ cup sugar
    • 1 tsp. nutmeg
    • 1 tsp. almond extract

    • Spread croissant bottoms with cream cheese. Top with strawberries, then sandwich with croissant tops. In a deep dish, beat together eggs, milk, cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg and almond extract. Dip croissants in egg mixture and cook on a hot, buttered griddle or skillet until golden brown on both sides (be careful - croissants burn easily). Garnish with sliced strawberries to serve. Makes 8 servings.

CABBI's $1,000 Gift Certificate Giveaway Winner Is ... Diane Alcorn!

Diane was the winner of CABBI's 2007 Gift Certificate Giveaway and won herself a $1,000 CABBI gift certificate toward future travel.

Diane stayed at three CABBI-certified inns in 2007 -- which earned her eligibility to the giveaway. According to Diane, B&Bs are the perfect solution to both business and personal travel because of the great personal service and unique accommodations that larger hotels don't offer.

When asked why she prefers B&Bs, Diane explained: "Bed and Breakfast Inns have so much personality. They are usually in amazing historic homes and the innkeepers pour a lot of love and pride into their property. I appreciate that - and also appreciate their personal stories and advice on exploring the area where they are located."
