& Breakfast" program. Bike-friendly offers include
features such as: secure places to store your bike,
nearby bike rental services, laundry services and

The Old
Yacht Club Inn in Santa Barbara is featuring a gas
rebate special, and is only a few blocks away from
beautiful bike paths. Guests can take advantage of
complimentary bicycles, helmets and
locks so guests can get around the city.
The Inn at Locke House has
special storage for bikes
and also provides a high-energy breakfast and trail
snacks, too. The inn also provides laundry service for
touring cyclists. And, as an added bonus, guests
have
access to a "secret" 18-mile-ride route through the
beautiful Lockeford countryside.
Carole's Bed and
Breakfast Inn in San Diego is located directly next
to Balboa Park with many bike trails plus a velodrome,
an arena for track cycling.

The 1859 Historic
National
Hotel in Jamestown, California boasts relaxing
accommodations and an acclaimed on-site restaurant.
There's much to do in this historic area. Antique in
Jamestown and Sonora or explore the area's award-
winning wine country, take a historic train ride or play in
a wonderful variety of outdoor activities.
Come and enjoy a taste from their award-winning
restaurant under the vine-covered patio, or try your
hand at one of their delicious dishes with the recipe
below.
Ingredients:
- 2 TBS olive oil or butter
- 1 1/2 pounds boneless pork loin, sliced into 1/4
inch medallions
- all-purpose flour
- 1 TBS chopped shallot
- 2 TBS Madagascar (green) peppercorns
- 1/4 cup brandy
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup plus 2 TBS beef stock reduction (or beef
gravy)
- 1 TBS Dijon mustard
- 1/2 stick butter, softened
- 1 pinch coriander
- Watercress, for garnish
- Thinly sliced red bell pepper, for garnish
Flatten pork medallions between sheets of waxed
paper with a mallet or the back of a heavy skillet. Heat
oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dredge pork
in flour and add to skillet. Evenly brown both sides of
each pork medallion. Add shallots and peppercorns;
cook until shallots are soft.
Add brandy. Carefully light brandy with a long match;
cook off alcohol. Add cream and cook until reduced
slightly. Stir in beef stock reduction. Stir in mustard,
butter and coriander; cook until butter is melted and
combined. Remove meat to a serving platter. Reduce
sauce to desired consistency. Pour sauce over meat.
Garnish with watercress and red bell peppers to
serve. Makes 4 to 5 servings.

May 23-26, and
features nearly 900 separate performances over the

The annual Twain Harte Summer Arts & Wine Festival
