Chef Ryan’s Coffee BBQ Sauce


Approx 4 cups


2 tbls butter

4 cloves garlic, crushed

1 onion, diced

2 jalapenos, diced

1 cup catsup

1 cup strong coffee

¾ cup cider vinegar

1/3 cup Jim’s smoked tomato paste (or use 1/3 cup tomato paste and tbl. Liquid smoke-also can add 2 chipotle peppers if you like more heat)

¼ cup brown sugar

1 tsp salt

2 tbls chili powder

1 tbls smoked paprika

2 tbls celery salt

2 tbls honey

2 tbls molasses

1 tbls mustard


Cook onion in butter until soft. Add garlic and jalapenos and cook until fragrant. Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to med-low and simmer until nice and thick. If desired, whirl in food processor for a smoother texture.

Great for Ribs, chicken, pulled pork, bbq pizza, and pretty much everything else you can imagine, including as a dip for hot links! --
