Oh Baby - Mount View Hotel & Spa

Relaxing Babymoon Escapes in California

While perhaps better known as honeymoon destinations, California boutique inns and B&Bs also provide some of the best (and last) escapes for expecting couples before the baby arrives. With couples' massages with prenatal-certified massage therapists and an array of "Babymoon" package indulgences, many California inns cater to expectant parents and offer relaxing and romantic getaways that the couple will later reminisce about during those three o'clock feedings.

Timber Cove InnCouples looking to sneak away before the arrival of their little one will find two nights of pure relaxation at the Timber Cove Inn on the rugged Sonoma Coast.  The inn’s Babymoon Special features an “Art of Relaxation” hands-on workshop with easy massage and relaxation techniques taught by Cindy Scott-Fuchs, founder of “Mellow Mommy.”   The special also includes two nights in a King Cove View Room with fireplace and balcony, prenatal massage with mini-facial, herbal foot wrap and aromatherapy, fresh flowers and local organic snack basket upon arrival and a gift tote filled with spa products, reflexology stones, a sweet onesie, infant massage DVD,  a copy of "The Parent's Tao Te Ching" by William Martin and more.  Call (707) 494-7314 to make a reservation.

Mount ViewNapa’s Mount View Hotel & Spa celebrates the art of relaxation and offers a special package for expecting couples.   The inn’s “Oh Baby! Babymoon for Two” package features a 50-minute couples’ massage (with certified a prenatal massage therapist for her), and a $10 cravings card to satisfy any cravings for pickles or ice cream, which the front desk concierge will pick up and deliver to the room.  The package also includes a baby massage t-shirt, a rubber ducky, a bottle of sparkling cider, a box of Napa Valley hand-crafted Woodhouse Chocolates and breakfast in bed.  The package can be added to any room night for $270, including tax and gratuity.  To make a reservation, call 800-816-6877.

Carmel Country InnThe Carmel Country Inn is a quiet sanctuary with flower-filled patios located steps from downtown Carmel. The inn’s “Special Occasion or Just Because” package is ideal for babymoon couples seeking a last retreat before baby arrives. The package includes in-room massages for two, a bottle of sparkling cider, complimentary glasses and a basket brimming with special Gilcrist and Soames spa products, including a rubber ducky to float among the bubbles. The inn’s unlimited DVD library sets the stage for a cozy movie night, and in the morning breakfast is delivered to the guests’ their room. Call (831) 625-3263 for more information or to make a reservation.

Elk Cove InnPerched on a cliff overlooking the Mendocino Coast, the Elk Cove Inn & Spa offers a relaxing "Babymoon Indulgence Package" for expecting parents.  The highlight is a one-and-a-half hour Couples Renewal Spa session in the inn’s intimate day spa that includes a tandem massage (with certified prenatal massage therapist for her), a private aromatherapy steam shower and sauna.  The package includes deluxe lodging accommodations, a full breakfast buffet to satisfy all cravings and a gift basket with sparkling cider, homemade cookies, popcorn and fruit and afternoon happy hour with cocktails and mocktails.  Package pricing for an ocean view room or small cottage is $695; an ocean view luxury suite or large cottage is $825. Rates are valid April through November, excluding holidays and do not include tax or gratuity.  Call 707-877-3321 to make a reservation.

Old Monterey InnThe Old Monterey Inn is an exclusive retreat hidden among the trees and English gardens in the heart of Monterey. It provides a luxurious getaway for couples looking to celebrate together before two become three, and the inn’s Babymoon package was designed for just such an occasion.  Upon arrival, guests will find a welcome gift in their room along with sparkling cider to toast their pending parenthood. A couples’ massage features a highly trained prenatal massage therapist for her and a stress-relieving Swedish massage treatment for him. The package also includes an elegant dinner at one of three restaurants in the area and a full breakfast in the morning.  The package is $185 per person and may be added to a stay in any guestroom.  Call 831-375-8284 for more information or to reserve.
