Midwinter Herbal Tea Blend

Makes about 20 servings

1 ½ ounces (by weight) dried hibiscus flowers

3 Tablespoons chopped fresh Grand fir needles

1 Tablespoon coarsely chopped cinnamon stick

Peel of 1 orange, shredded

You may need to put the hibiscus and cinnamon in a bag and pound them with a hammer to “chop” them.  Put all ingredients into a paper lunch bag.  Leave the top open and shake it a few times a day for several days so that the tea is almost dry when you put it into a jar. The recipe can be multiplied, but dry the larger quantity in several bags or spread it out on parchment out of the sun.

It also looks pretty in the cup (a bright pink) and in the jar. It would make a festive gift with its bright red and green colors showing through a glass jar or cellophane bag tied with a cheery ribbon.--Westport Hotel
